BRIEF HISTORY OF BABUNGO

Motto: Unity, Love and Truth

Babungo stems from the word "Vengo" meaning people of same lineage. They were seven originally composed of a queen mother (Mangeh) her four kids namely: Fuanjeh, Bihai, Fanwi and Ndofoa in age order respectively. Fanwi was the lone sister. They had a step brother called Tifua and a royal servant called Songho.

They migrated from Ndove and discover themselves and settled on the southern slope of the hill where now is found Baba I. Besides was a waterfall "Foghai" where they located a peace loving goddess and she gave a black sheep to lead them to the fruitful land where they have lived till today

When the sheep rested in Mbenjeh, Fuanjeh settled there as chief of the area. The sheep fell sick and they settled in Nguneh. Tifua settled in Mbezaa, with the Tiger skin considering himselft as their King. Bihai who had the royal spear with traditional power, conived with the immediate family and robbed Tifua of the Tiger skin, which he used to crown their youngest brother Ndofoa as king of the Vengo people, and has been crowning the king down the lane. When the sheep got well and started moving, Bihai continued behind it until it settled and finally died in Ekwikang where Bihai Buried it and settled till date. The sheep is considered one of the Rulers.

Their mother Mangeh following her will, was buried by Bihai in his Muokang Palace and only inform his brothers who had earlier asked him to do so. Bihai himself did not die but disappeared and his shrine and his royal spear was found in the Nkah Iboh sacred forest and always handed to next of King, following his will believed to be the transfer of original traditional powers. Because of these three shrines, Bihai's Muokang Palace, being the Muokang-Babungo palace of the Babungo people, has never changed position.

These 3 must continue to rule Babungo together just as a pot cannot stand on a single stone or only two. Finally Babungo is the only kingdom on earth ruled by 3 kings at the same time sharing powers as Fuan/Ba/Fuanjeh being 1st, 2nd and 3rd class chiefs.
